San Antonio TX  family finds help, finally

For the first time since her tragic wreck 24 years ago Kay Farrar stood up unassisted.

Kay's sister Debbie described it as "fantastic". Her excited message left on Linda McKinsey's answering machine, "left goose bumps" on Linda's skin. McKinsey, who owns a medical sales company in Austin had located the equipment and knowing of the Farrar's search for help brought it to them to test the unit.

Their never ending search for assistance for their daughter was realized Wednesday evening, when Farrar was able to stand up for the first time since her wreck 24 years ago using a new product called the Help-Stand ® from Malvern, Arkansas.

Farrar's family's devotion to their injured daughter caused them to go into the business of helping others full time by providing equipment to help others disabled like their head injured daughter.

Farrar's is well known in the health services industry and services over 300 nursing homes in Texas and airlines nation wide by repairing equipment and providing common sense affordable equipment to help others who have disabilities. Their specialty is vehicle conversions.

Farrar's quickly sought more units after the thrilling sight of their 190 pound daughter's self sufficiency and independence for the first time after her tragic accident 24 years ago.

The new miracle unit was designed out of compassion for a sick friend dying of Parkinson's and cancer so he could get up from his bed and go a few feet to the bathroom.

The Help-Stand ® will revolutionize the health care industry", states James Tweedy, President of TLC Services in Helena Alabama. "Its' use prevents lower back injuries for health care workers, an always constant problem for the industry as well as giving self sufficiency and independence to the user. "Tweedy, author of a book used as the standard in the medical safety management industry is nationally known for instructing advanced courses for certified healthcare professionals.

"The Help-Stand ® supplied by a Malvern Arkansas company is the only practical, economical, quick and easy to use unit available that nearly eliminates care givers having to lift patients", states Tweedy.

Health care workers must lift heavy patients many times a day. Many suffer back injuries from the lifting. Those back injuries typically have a reserve set back by the insurance company of $20,000 each, according to Floyd Fenix, President of the company that owns the Help-Stand ®.

Back injuries were 46% of the total health care givers accidents, according to California OSHA. US Dept. of Labor issued a report showing lifting of patients was the cause of 40% of home health care injuries.

Though a new company, sales for the new unit have already spread throughout the United States and Canada. Inquires from dealers, including those outside the United States are being processed now. The Malvern, Arkansas company can be reached at 1-800-598-9299 for additional information.

The unit assists in standing from a bed, chair or toilet. A built in handrail helps the user steady themselves after rising if light headed or dizzy. The unit is amazingly simple and ingeniously effective.

The units are reportedly inexpensive, quick and easy to use. Gus De Deyne of Diamond Head, Arkansas designed the unit to help a sick friend. Noticing his stricken and weak friend could easily rise in church by grasping the pew ahead of him, Gus decided to build a "portable church pew". It took a year of trying and failing, but Gus delivered a unit that helped his friend.

When the first production runs were made in the factory, the units were called "porta pews" by the workers in tribute to Gus.

The inventor's compassionate caring for his friend, combined with his inventive mind, has made it possible for many people such as Kay Farrar in San Antonio to live a much better, free and, self-sufficient life.  It also has made life much more risk free of back injuries for health caregivers and will reduce worker compensation insurance costs for many companies.
